Kindergarten Bridge (TK - K)

The Kindergarten Bridge (transitional kindergarten through kindergarten) program is offered to ensure every child is ready to take on the challenges of Lower Elementary. Kindergarten Bridge is ideal for students who are new to the Montessori method and those who are too young for Lower Elementary.

The Kindergarten Bridge classroom has two teachers. Our low teacher/student ratio provides children with highly individualized attention as they transition to the more rigorous learning experiences that lie ahead. Children who enter on the younger side may spend two years in Kindergarten Bridge.

Program of Study

Kindergarten Bridge follows the same curriculum as described in the Early Childhood program, but at a level of complexity and challenge that is appropriate to a younger age. Kindergarten Bridge students will study mathematics, language, practical life, sensorial, geography/cultural studies, botany, and earth science. Children work at the pace of their personalized weekly schedule, practice kindness and respect for others, and they teach and learn from each other in our mixed-age classroom.

To meet their broader developmental needs, children participate in a number of weekly resource classes such as music (using the Orff Schulwerk system), art, Spanish lessons, and physical education.
