A glance at some of the phenomenal activities MFS alumni are involved in.
We remember Aaron's superb language and logic skills on display at EBM, and he hasn't disappointed since! He has gone on to compete nationally in crossword puzzles, obtaining a 3rd place finish in the 2013 American Crossword Puzzle Tournament (the most prestigious such tournament in the country). Bravo, Aaron!
Thomas is in his fourth year at Chapman College, after receiving a Scholar Athlete award at Saint Mary’s High School with a 4.0 GPA! He also received the award for Defensive Player of the Year. We are very proud of this alumnus for his dedication to achieving his goals! We look forward to hearing more from Thomas about his future plans.
Chloe is a senior at Whitman College, where she has declared her double-major in Environmental Studies and Sociology. She has been interning at the Pacific Forest Trust. She continues to play Ultimate Frisbee with the Whtiman Sweets' D-1 women's team and was voted onto the USA Ultimate 2017 All-Freshman Team. She was further honored as the Northwest Region Women's Freshman of the Year.
Lauren is a sophomore at Carleton College in Minnesota. As a three-sport standout, she played Varsity Tennis, Varsity Basketball, and Varsity Lacrosse for her high school teams at Lick-Wilmerding, as well as playing Ultimate Frisbee for Berkeley High School. She was a team captain for the elite girls' high school travel team, California Roll, which finished third in the nation at the High School National Ultimate Frisbee Tournament in Chicago (June 2017). She now plays on Syzygy, Carleton College's D-1 women's ultimate frisbee team.
Kyle was at EBM until 2007. During his elementary years at EBM, Kyle always enjoyed and engaged in sports activities at recess. He went to Saint Mary’s College High School in Berkeley, California, and attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver for his undergrad degree, where he studied kinesiology. He was awarded a Go Global International Learning Programs Award and studied abroad at the University of Auckland in New Zealand. He has spent extensive time volunteering/working with the Center for Sports Medicine physical therapy branch of Dignity Health in Walnut Creek.

Floris is an award-winning wildlife and nature photographer. He won the 2015 BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year. Check out the awesome work by this EBM alumnus, who has carried the love of nature to an inspiring level!
By Floris-
“...I cannot imagine a more fulfilling experience than standing atop a wilderness mountain peak at the break of dawn….I find unparalleled exhilaration and inspiration, a sense of awe and discovery and a healing calmness in the outdoors, and I hope my images allow you to feel the same...Nature is good for the soul..”
Caroline Carr, an EBM graduate, spent 8 months in India as a volunteer teaching English at an NGO that works with children from a village outside of Jaipur. The NGO is an after school English program. She taught students 4-9 years old using the Montessori Method. Caroline says that EBM has played a huge role in leading her to this place. Check out the inspiring work by this MFS alumna who has carried the idea of education and giving far beyond the local community and into the world. Tushita Foundation is a non-profit organization that offers after-school tutoring in many subjects. Their aim is to spread self-respect and confidence in the context of universal human values. You can check their work at tushitafoundationidia.org.
Caroline now teaches as part of the 4th-grade faculty at the Brooklyn Friends School, a well-established independent school in New York City.
